Exciting news: We’ve added a new hotel
Thanks to the generous support we’ve received from all of you, we’ve been able to add a 2nd hotel property to house Ukrainian refugees. The new hotel will add at least 50 new beds, and between our two hotels, building of residential flats, and office space we will increase our capacity to around 125 beds per night.
But…it’s going to take a little work to get it open. See the pictures for yourself: we’re going to have to 1) get the electricity and water turned on, 2) install a furnace for heating and hot water, 3) furnish it with beds and everything else, 4) install two kitchens, and 5) probably a lot of other stuff I haven’t thought about.
When I appeared on the radio with Hanny and Ott on April 1 , I thought closing the lease was imminent, and they set an over/under for getting it open by Easter Sunday. Because of the complications of the property plus the four separate owners we had to negotiate with, we couldn’t close the lease and get the keys until last night (Tuesday, April 12). So this Sunday is going to be a challenge, and full operation will likely not be complete. But we’re going to take a poll on how fast we can get it acceptable enough that we have 50 beds that people can sleep in for the night, and set the over/under at one week:
1) OVER noon EST Tuesday April 19 for 50 beds open
2) UNDER noon EST Tuesday April 19 for 50 beds open
3) Hewitt, it takes you an hour and a half to watch 60 minutes
You can leave your vote in the comments on our Instagram, or we have an official internet poll up on LinkedIn.
Thank you so much for your tremendous support for this effort – because of you, we are able to give that many more refugees a real bed under a real roof.
